Welcome to Ujima and Nia Daycare! Where your child matters!
All About us!
Ujima and Nia?
Ujima and Nia are two of the seven principles of Kwanzaa. Ujima means collective work and responsibility and Nia means purpose. We believe that we are in partnership with our families and we want to work together to empower and affirm our children in their individual and collective divine purpose.
Mission:
Ujima and Nia Daycare is an African centered learning space serving the families in the Baltimore City area. We provide a educational space where children and families can be re-educated in a manner that empowers and affirms who they are, where they come from and our collective responsibility for our future.
What we believe:
We are a nurturing and culturally affirming daycare dedicated to providing a supportive environment for black and brown children in the Baltimore City area. Promoting their personal and academic growth.
Philosophy of Education:
We have embraced and harmonized our mission and vision with the educational philosophy of Elijah Muhammad. Elijah Muhammad's educational concepts are closely connected to critical pedagogy, multicultural education, and critical white studies, a subfield of "critical race theory" that gained popularity in the 1970s and examines the intersection of race, the justice system, and society across various disciplines. We strongly urge all parents to dedicate time to reading this book while their child is enrolled at our institution
